Ryan Granthamknown for playing Jeffery Augustine in ‘Riverdale’, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his own mother.
The 24-year-old was convicted Wednesday in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada, about 6 months after pleading guilty to second-degree murder for his mother’s death. Barbara Waitein 2020.
Prosecutors say the disgraced actor captured his confession and the aftermath of the tragic ordeal with his own camera at the time – admitting in the clip: “I shot her in the back of the head. In the moments after, she would have known.” have that it was me.”
Justice Kathleen Kerr described the case as heartbreaking, tragic and life-destroying as he handed him the verdict.
According to prosecutors, Grantham shot his mother in the back of the head while she played the piano at home — the next day he loaded his car with guns, ammunition, Molotov cocktails and directions to Rideau Cottage — where the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau lives.
Detectives investigating the case say Grantham later confessed to trying to kill Trudeau and wrote about his purpose in a journal.
Under the terms of the sentence, Grantham is ineligible for parole during his first 14 years incarcerated.
