John Easterling has revealed that his late wife Olivia Newton-John, in her final days, wanted all Australians suffering from cancer to have access to alternative medicines.

The 70-year-old film producer told The Herald Sun Australia lover was “lucky” enough to “have access to a wide range of wellness treatments” and wished others had the same privilege.

The treatments, including medicinal cannabis, “no doubt extended Olivia’s life and gave her quality of life.”

He went on to say that she was “happy, cheerful and pain-free” because of the alternative treatments and that she did not need “toxic chemicals or addictive painkillers” to control her terminal illness.

Unfortunately, not all cancer patients have access to these drugs.

Olivia often lobbied politicians to try to influence changes within the law and make medicinal cannabis available to patients at the ONJ Cancer Wellness and Research Center in Melbourne.

“Her dream at the Olivia Newton-John Wellness Center was to give Australians going through cancer access to similar types of treatment,” John said.

The pop icon’s husband encouraged people to join Olivia’s Walk for Wellness at Melbourne’s Alexandra Gardens on October 9 to raise money for programs, treatments and equipment.

‚ÄúPlease donate generously to keep Olivia’s dream alive. Let’s keep this Wellness Center thriving,” he said.

He continued: ‘Walk this walk, standing upright with confidence, with courage and with hope, as Olivia walked. See you soon in Australia, a proud Aussie, in Olivia’s honour.’

It comes just days after he marked her first birthday since her death.

Olivia passed away peacefully Monday morning at her Southern California home surrounded by family and friends.

It came after a brave and extraordinarily public decades-long battle with cancer, during which she was diagnosed three times in 1992, 2013, and, for the last time, in 2017.
