LG & MSI Ultra-Wide OLED Monitors Announced
Two companies have announced the upcoming OLED gaming monitors and both claim to be the first to do so, which is still technically correct.
Earlier this week, we reported on a 27-inch OLED gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate. That’s a relatively small panel with a resolution of 2560×1440, but it’s worth remembering that this is still in its infancy for small OLEDs, or should you say the very beginning of it.
Turns out LG also has an ultra-wide OLED panel on the way. It has a much larger diameter at 45 inches, but the resolution is still 3440×1440. It is a curved screen (800R) and also has an OLED 240 Hz panel. LG advertises this WHQD monitor with a response time of 0.03 ms.
According to the product page, this monitor costs $1,699.99 and is available for pre-order starting December 12. LG expects to be able to deliver this monitor on December 28.
MSI SUPER ultra-wide OLED
Interestingly, this isn’t the only OLED panel being announced today. MSI kicks off their pre-CES 2023 announcement with Project 491C, a new one super ultra-wide monitor with QD-OLED 240Hz panel. The name suggests it’s a 49-inch panel, but the resolution hasn’t been confirmed yet.
MSI gives no further details. The only thing that was confirmed is that this monitor received a CES Innovation Award ahead of the show.
