‘Batgirl’ directors share a message of support from Kevin Feige after the film’s disappearance – Deadline

batgirl Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have sent a message of support from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige after their film was scrapped by Warner Bros.

Captioned “Thank you brother Kevin,” El Arbi shared Feige’s post on Instagram.

“My friends, I had to reach out and let you know that we are all thinking of you,” Feige wrote in an email to Arbi and Fallah. “Because of the great news about the wedding (congratulations!) and the disappointing news about ‘Batgirl.’ Very proud of you and all the great work you do, and especially ‘Ms. Marvel’ of course! I can’t wait to see what’s next for you. Hope to see you soon.”

Arbi and Fallah Directed Two Episodes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Series Mrs. Marvel. They were in Morocco this week for El Arbi’s wedding when they heard the news about batgirl.

“Thank you for all the support around the world,” Arbi wrote on Instagram. “Shoutout directors Edgar Wright and James Gunn, your kind words and experience mean a lot and help us through this difficult time.”

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery had the film shelved to take advantage of a “purchase accounting” maneuver available to the newly merged conglom. During the company’s Q2 call on Thursday, CEO David Zaslov summed up the reason the film was halted, saying, “We’re not going to launch a film until it’s ready.”
